Most of us live in cities, with separations between urban, suburban, agricultural and wilderness areas. As populations rapidly expand, the demand for habitation encroaches on the land that sustains us at the most fundamental level--namely, for the growth of food. This studio urges students to reconsider the interface between constructed and natural environments and to imagine how food cultivation can be woven into a city’s fabric as a way to sustain its inhabitants.
